Responsible Play
The card room is one room on a farm, and we would like it to stay that way. Here is how we run it and where to find help if it stops being enjoyable.
Age verification
Entry is limited to people aged eighteen or over, or the legal age where they live if that is higher. Photographic identification is checked at the door on every single visit, including for guests who have stayed with us for years.
No one under eighteen is admitted for any reason, accompanied or otherwise. The room leads nowhere else, so there is never a reason for a minor to pass through it. Staff who fail to check are dismissed.
What we will not do
- Take wagers, deposits, or payments of any kind through this website.
- Imply that anyone can expect to win, or publish odds, systems, or strategies.
- Offer credit, lend money, cash cheques, or hold funds for guests.
- Run a loyalty scheme, or let play affect what a cottage costs.
- Aim any promotion at people under eighteen, or use language or imagery designed to appeal to them.
Limits and self-exclusion
Ask us to bar you from the card room and it happens immediately, for the rest of your stay or for every future stay. No explanation is required, nothing appears on your account, and it cannot be reversed during the same visit.
We will also keep an agreed sum of cash in the office safe and hand it back only in the morning. Several regular guests do this every year and say it works.
Worth watching for. Playing longer than you meant to. Going back to win losses back. Borrowing in order to continue. Hiding time or money from the people you came with. Feeling relief rather than pleasure when you stop.
Where to get help
Free, confidential help exists in every country where gambling is legal. Search for your national gambling helpline, or ask at the house and we will find the number without mentioning it to anyone else.
Most services offer telephone lines, online chat, and self-exclusion registers that cover many venues at once. They cost nothing and report to nobody, including us.
Gambling is a form of entertainment that costs money. It is not a way of making it. Decide what you are content to lose, decide when you will stop, and keep both promises. If you cannot, stop entirely and speak to someone.
